DefenseWeb Launches iPhone Application for Army OneSource
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 24, 2010 - – DefenseWeb® Technologies, Inc., a premier custom software developer and systems integrator for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal government agencies, announced its iPhone application for Army OneSource.
The solution follows the recent iPad program launch that also allows Soldiers and their Families mobile access to local services and resources in a simple, intuitive interface.
“Similar to the iPad application, the iPhone application will be of great value for many military service members and their families,” said Chris Fletcher, Chief Technology Officer at DefenseWeb. “We are committed to giving them as many technology mediums as possible to access information and obtain assistance in a timely manner. This application is another way we’re making that happen for them, especially for those users in remote areas or on the go.”
iPhone users can download the application at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/army-onesource-services-locator/id372486495?mt=8 for free. Users accessing the application will be able to find local military services wherever they are; both within and outside the Continental United States.
The features of this application include:
• Use Current Location - When opened, the dynamic map will center on the user’s current location in order to be directed to the desired services that are nearest to them.
• Services Information – A simple, three-step process to search for the nearest desired services and show their locations on the map interface.
• Multi-Directional Support – Search for services by location and/or category in rapid fashion.
• Add to Contacts and Directions – Allows users to add the location and contact information to their iPhone and get step-by-step instructions to the location for easy navigation.
“With the increased deployment tempo many Soldiers now face, our focus each and every day is to develop technology solutions that improve the lives of our men and women in uniform along with their families,” said Tonya Torgeson Vice President of Military Family Programs for DefenseWeb Technologies. “It’s how we go about our business – with them in the forefront of our minds. We love what we do!”
